Registration is now open for the upcoming joint meeting of the Ohio Aquaculture Association and the Ohio Chapter of the American Fisheries Society, held on 26–27 January 2018 at the Quest Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio (map).
The deadline for the early registration discount is January 12, 2018. Students: the registration fees have been greatly reduced for you enabling you to interact with professionals and students from multiple universities with as little financial burden as possible. All meals are provided in the registration.
We encourage members to both attend this meeting and to consider presenting a poster presentation. One of the components of the Ohio Chapter’s mission is to “promote the conservation of aquatic resources by providing…professional services…to Ohio’s fisheries professionals.” This year we are extremely excited to join with the Ohio Aquaculture Association for this meeting. Your contribution to the meeting will strengthen the value of this meeting for all attendees and help promote engaging dialogue across sectors of the fisheries profession.
Please submit abstracts no later than Friday, January 5, 2018.
During this meeting, the Ohio Chapter will hold the annual business meeting. Strong membership attendance helps guide the Chapter in a direction that will best serve Ohio’s aquatic professionals.
We are sure that you will find great value in this upcoming meeting. The meeting will include a joint-association Plenary Session on Friday morning focusing on aquatic invasive species and the related concerns of fisheries managers and private aquaculture with a special emphasis on grass carp, breakout contributed sessions pertaining to aquaculture in the private sector as well as hatchery and management practices at the agency level, a fisheries poster social Friday evening, and a sit-down banquet featuring a nationally renowned keynote speaker addressing the topic of strengthening associations—a topic very relevant in our era of partnerships. Saturday morning will feature a joint session merging the private and public considerations of the Lake Erie Yellow Perch population status as well as jointly relevant information about Harmful Algal Blooms.
Lodging accommodations are within easy walking distance from/to the Quest Conference Center.
